Chickens in motion

I can't believe it's nearly a month since we started getting the chicken shed ready for our feathered visitors.

Today, our friends who are lending us our four chickens came to inspect facilities, and we were able to take custody of our birds. They have been chosen specially as those who will most benefit from a respite ... in particular Henrietta, who is such a favourite with the cockerels that she has no feathers left on her back.

We are now officially running The Chicken Priory.

Seems like a lovely home for them! I'm sure they'll appreciate it the peace and quiet.

Yes, with MB, and love the photos!

Eggs galore... where'd that come from? They'll be happy laying soon! Met a guy in a wheelchair at the supermarket buying carrots for the green stems for his budgy, who's so happy with the diet that she lays eggs like crazy, but he's gotta find a male so they can get fertilized... & then he can sell birdies... it was an interesting bird story, never did get to how he ended up in a wheelchair, perhaps another time... if I ever see him again, that is.

They seem to be settling in nicely. A couple of small 'escapades' when the dog tried to join us in the chicken house, but that will all iron out I'm sure :)

And yes, we've each consumed a fresh egg today. My goodness they taste different from the ones you buy at the supermarket!
